A Co Armagh man has been left sweating on whether his dream Cyprus wedding will go ahead as the future of Thomas Cook hangs in the balance.
Matthew Moore, 30, and his partner Aaron, 28, (pictured) are due to tie the knot in Protaras, Cyprus and have booked through the under-threat holiday company.
The Thomas Cook Group are desperately hoping for an eleventh hour £200million bailout or face administration on Monday morning.
Matthew and Aaron are just two of thousands across the UK facing uncertainty around their holiday plans.
The couple are planning on an intimate wedding with 26 guests, who have all paid through Thomas Cook, as they are the only airline flying from Belfast to Larnaca.
Matthew, from Lurgan, told the Sun Online: “There’s only one flight that goes out from Belfast to Larnaca with Thomas Cook, so you can’t fly out with any other airline.
“Everything else has been sorted out in Cyprus. At the moment we don’t know what to do. The only other option would be to fly from Dublin to Paphos but there’s no guarantee there’s seats available on those flights.
“There’s no other airline that flies from Northern Ireland to Cyprus. If Thomas Cook goes go under, we’ll be left with the suits, flowers, money all paid for.
“All the stress of planning a wedding is hard enough but this is causing serious anxiety and sleepless nights.”
For many thousands on holiday with the company at the minute the British government has said it is ready to fly holidaymakers back to the UK if the tour operator collapses.
Thomas Cook customers have been reminded on social media that they have Atol protection – a fund paid for through industry levies – “in the event that Thomas Cook goes into administration”.
The travel firm also reassured customers on Sunday that flights continue to operate as normal.
