Detectives are appealing for witnesses following reports of three separate burglaries in Lurgan.
Between Tuesday, June 20 and Wednesday, June 21 three burglaries occurred overnight in the Collingwood Drive area of the town.
The residents of the properties were all at home at the time, but were asleep when the burglaries occurred.
As a result of the break-ins a number of items were taken including a set of car keys, sums of money, medication, laptops, mobile phones and an I-Pad.
Detective Constable Holmes said : “I am appealing to anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time or to anyone that may have been offered similar items for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact detectives at Lurgan Reactive and Organised Crime Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 148 of the 21/06/17.
“Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Detective Constable Holmes continued: “Burglaries are a violation of the things people hold most dear – the possessions they’ve worked hard to buy and to enjoy as well as the items of sentimental value they cherish.
“I would appeal to property owners not to take security for granted. When you leave the property, make sure all the doors and windows are locked and secure and always keep your keys safe. Always keep your doors and windows locked and ensure you can identify callers before you open the door.
“An alarm can act as an excellent deterrent. Without one, your premises will present a more attractive target for burglars than those with a system fitted. It is important that alarm systems are inspected regularly.
“Any measure which householders can put in place to protect their property is a good investment. Local crime prevention officers can also be contacted on 101 for further advice. We will continue to work to help prevent burglary and ensure that it is rigorously investigated if it happens to you. Always call 999 in an emergency.”
