Three people taken to hospital following two-vehicle collision in Lurgan

Three people were taken to hospital following a serious two-vehicle collision in the centre of Lurgan on Monday evening.

Police received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision in the William Street area, close to Victoria Street, just after 7.15pm.

Several of those involved had to be freed by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment. Four people were rescued from the vehicles in total.

Three fire appliances from Lurgan and one from Portadown attended the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “We would appeal to anyone travelling in the area at the time, who may have witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1625 of 21/08/23.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said they received a 999 call at 7.21pm.

NIAS despatched three emergency crews to the incident.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance. One patient was also taken to Daisy Hill Hospital by ambulance.

The injuries sustained by the three victims are, at this stage, not thought to be serious.
