Tributes paid following sudden death of ‘loveliest’ young Lurgan man while abroad

Tributes have been paid following the sudden death of a young man from Lurgan while abroad.

James McKeown – who passed away on October 15 – has been described as a “gentle soul” and “loveliest young man”.

The tragic news has prompted an outpouring of grief from those within his local community.

One person said of James: “Lovely fella, have some good memories with him at the MUGA he was a funny lad.

“Thoughts and prayers with his family.”

Another added: “Ah what a gentle lovely looking young man.. Sincerest condolences to family and friends.”

A death notice described James as the beloved son of Siobhan and Diarmuid, and an adored grandson of Sheila and the late James (Jimmy) McKeown and Lucille and Brian McKinstry, much loved nephew of Paula, Maria, Graham and Dáire and a cherished cousin of Aiden, Finlay, Euan, Cillian and Tommy.

Funeral arrangements are to follow and donations are being gratefully received for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust via mcalindenandmurtagh.com.

Sinn Féin Cllr Keith Haughian extended his condolences to Mr McKeown’s family and friends.

“The news of James McKeown sudden passing has shocked and saddened everyone in the community,” said Cllr Haughian.

“This is an unimaginable loss for those closest to him, and my thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
