Detectives from Lurgan have welcomed the sentencing of Dwayne McKnight at Newry Crown Court on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old was sentenced to a total of 30 months after pleading guilty to common assault, causing criminal damage and making threats to kill.
He was further sentenced to six months in prison for breaching suspended sentences.
McKnight was also given a Violence Offences Prevention Order that will run for five years and he must pay £1,000 to the victim.
Chief Inspector Tate said: “McKnight was arrested and charged following an incident on the Dromore Road in April 2018.
“Armed with a hammer, he damaged a vehicle that was parked at traffic lights, before threatening the driver inside. The window of the vehicle was smashed before the victim managed to drive away from the scene.
“This sentence shows that there are consequences for actions and we will prosecute for behaviour like this.
“McKnight will now spend three years in jail and we believe that this is justice for the victim.”
Detectives have also welcomed the sentencing of 22-year-old Scott Simms, who was given a six month sentence which was suspended for two years.
Simms was found guilty of aiding an offence.
