REGIONAL Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a major £125,000 resurfacing scheme at Mahon Road in Portadown.
The work covers an area from the Armagh Road junction to approximately 200m past Mahon Industrial Estate.
The scheme is due to begin this coming Monday, April 8, and finish on Tuesday, April 30.
To help minimise disruption to road users and to protect the safety of the travelling public and contractors during the surfacing works, whilst ancillary works are ongoing, traffic will be controlled by temporary traffic lights.
Road closures will be in operation during weekends when the resurfacing operation is in progress.
During the weekend period of Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, and again on Sunday, April 28, this portion of Mahon Road will be closed to traffic and suitably signed diversion routes will be in operation.
The Minister said: “My department has invested significant sums in the Portadown area in recent months to help improve the condition of the road network.
“Roads Service has made every effort to programme the necessary works operations – and traffic management arrangements – to minimise inconvenience to the public. Motorists, however, should be aware that some delays can be expected and they should allow additional time when planning journeys.”
As with all works of this nature, planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any unavoidable change.
