A MAN sustained cuts to his face during an attempted burglary at his home in Bessbrook.
And today (Monday), detectives issued an appeal for information on the incident, which happened in the John F Kennedy Park area of the village at around 9.15pm on Friday night.
A man called at a house in the estate and demanded car keys from the 60-year-old tenant. When the occupant refused, he was punched a number of times and suffered cuts to his face.
The culprit is described as being about 20 years of age, five feet 10 inches tall, wearing a grey hoodie, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
It is believed he may have been in the area for a time prior to the incident and police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed him – or who has information relating to the assault and attempted burglary – to get in touch on Newry 0845 600 8000.
