Police in South Armagh have arrested a 28-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy after a burglary at the home of an elderly woman in Newtonhamilton on Friday.
When police arrived at the scene they found one suspect being detained by a member of the public.
A second suspect was located nearby.
The woman, who is in her 80’s, was not physically injured but was left deeply shocked.
South Armagh Neighbourhood Inspector, Lorraine Dobson commented, ” I would like to convey my thanks to the member of the public who assisted my officers this afternoon. His quick thinking and brave actions and the timely response from local officers has resulted in the apprehension of two suspects in an incident where the home of an elderly lady has been targetted.”
