A man and woman were arrested after police seized a huge amount of heroin in Poyntzpass, county Armagh this afternoon (Tuesday).
Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch made the two arrests after seizing the heroin with an estimated street value of £10,000.
Police stopped a car on the Church Street area.
A 40-year-old female and 49-year-old male have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A controlled drug, possessing a class A controlled drug with intent to supply and importation of a class A controlled drug and are currently in police custody.
Commenting on the operation Detective Inspector Keith Gawley said: “This operation is yet another example of our determination to reduce the availability of this killer drug and I appeal to anyone who has any concerns or information about illegal drugs to contact their local Police on the non-emergency number 101.
“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
