A man and woman have been arrested in suspicion of the attempted murder of a Bessbrook pensioner.
Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime, investigating a violent aggravated burglary in Bessbrook on 31 August, arrested the pair.
A 25-year-old female and 26-year-old male were arrested by officers earlier today in the Newry area, September 4, on suspicion of attempted murder.
The pair are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Eugene Carr, who is in his seventies, sustained serious injury in the incident at his home in Clogharevan Park, Bessbrook during the early hours of 31st August.
