The owner of a Co. Armagh tea room has announced she is to close her doors for the last time after 11 years in business.
Sharon Porter, who owns Bide a While tea room in Mountnorris, says it was a “difficult decision” to make, but the “time is right” to close permanently on Saturday, October 26.
The business, which is located on Creggan Road, was a big hit with the locals and is very highly rated on Google and TripAdvisor.
In a statement posted on social media today (Friday), she said: “My success is truly down to the providence of God who brought the increase and people to my door and helped me use any basic skills I had.
“My most sincere thanks go to my dedicated and very loyal staff and to you all who have been so supportive over the last number of years. Strangers who have become sincere friends.
“There are so many and if I started to mention people in particular, I am so afraid of missing someone out.”
She added: “Those lovely couples who came weekly at the start and spread the word about Bide a While. Those young families who have now grown up and still enjoy their wee bag of shortbread!
“Young babies now grown into lovely young people who can order their own food. I could reminisce stories all evening!
“Can I please ask that vouchers you have are used before the end of October. God bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your friendship, support and business.”
Well-wishers there were a plenty.
One woman commented: “One of my most favourite places to eat with 5 food and staff on every visit. A warm welcome, a cherished love for quality food, fine bone china and all your old school favourite desserts with a signature taste . My family have always enjoyed throughly and I will truely miss this space sincerely. Wishing Sharon and the staff the very best for the foreseeable future.”

We will just have to slot on lots if visits before October.”
One woman added: “Best wee tea room ever. Always a warm welcome from all the staff and such lovely treats. You will most definitely be missed.”
“Awh, the end of an era, you will be so missed,” read another. “To think a small coffee shop down a narrow country lane would take off in such a big was all down to your talent, dedication and beautiful food and lovely staff. Thank you for the 11 years we enjoyed going to Bide a While. Enjoy your time now, so well deserved.”
