1.05PM update: The road has been re-opened to traffic.
There has been a serious road traffic collision near Markethill – on the main Armagh to Newry Road – this afternoon (Saturday).
Emergency services are currently on the scene close to the Bolton filling station, on the Gosford Road section.
The road has been closed in both directions, between Ballydogherty Road and Bolton Road, with police and ambulance crews attending the scene.
Motorists are being diverted through Markethill, Mountnorris and into Newry.
One eye-witness told Armagh I there are “a lot of ambulance crews at the scene and it doesn’t look good”.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area this afternoon.
There are no further details at this stage.
Part of the Gosford Road, south of Markethill, between Ballydogherty Road and Bolton Road, is closed due to a road traffic collision.
