A 55-year-old Markethill man of "unblemished character" who had over 30 years working with the council is to appeal a sexual assault conviction.
James Joseph McGeown, of Newry Street – an ABC Council refuse worker of 30 years – was found to have sexually assaulted the young woman on a date unknown between September 1 and September 30, 2024. The incident was reported to police on November 8.
