Motorcyclist dies following collision involving lorry in Markethilll

A man has sadly died following a two-vehicle collision in Markethill yesterday, Friday, July 10.

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Police received a report at around 11.40am of a collision involving a motorcycle and a lorry in the Coolmillish Road area of Markethill.

“Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended. However, sadly the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The Coolmillish Road, which was closed for a time, has since reopened.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any information which could assist with our investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 602 of 10/07/26.”

NIAS tasked one emergency ambulance, one Rapid Response Paramedic, one Ambulance Officer, one HART Team and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board were also tasked to the incident.
