DUP Leader Gavin Robinson MP has welcomed Adam Copeland as the party’s new councillor for Cusher District Electoral Area in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
He replaces Gareth Wilson who has been selected as the new DUP MLA for Newry and Armagh.
Mr Robinson said: “I am delighted to welcome Adam Copeland to the DUP team as our Councillor for Cusher. Adam is deeply committed to public service and has a clear focus on getting things done for the people of Cusher.
“Living near Markethill, he has strong roots in the local community and a deep understanding of the issues facing families, businesses and the local farming community across the area. His involvement in the Loyal Orders also reflects his commitment to culture, and community service. Adam will be a strong and effective unionist voice on Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, and I wish him every success in his new role as he joins a strong DUP team on the Council.”
Cllr Adam Copeland added: “It is an honour to serve the people of Cusher as a DUP Councillor.
“I am proud to represent my local area and will work hard to deliver practical results for residents, standing up for our unionist values and strengthening our community. Alongside Gareth as our MLA, we are determined to deliver the best services for those we represent, as well as being accessible to those who need assistance on the day to day issues that they face.”
DUP Newry and Armagh MLA Gareth Wilson added: “It has been a privilege to serve the people of Cusher as a Councillor for over twenty years, and I am confident that Adam will build on that work with energy and dedication.
“The DUP has a strong and united local team in Newry and Armagh, and we remain the only party with representation on both the local council and in the Northern Ireland Assembly. Alongside our colleague Councillor Scott Armstrong, we are ensuring strong, effective and consistent unionist representation right across the constituency.”
