Man taken to hospital following collision between van and lorry near Markethill

One person has been taken to hospital following a collision between a van and lorry outside Markethill on Thursday afternoon.

The Coolmillish Road, at the junction with Damolly Road, had been closed in both directions as emergency services dealt with the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a van and a lorry on the Coolmillish Road, Markethill shortly before 3.30pm.

“One man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.”

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) said: “We received a 999 call at 3.30pm on Thursday, September 17 following reports of a road traffic collision on Damolly Road, Markethill – just off the Coolmillish Road.

“NIAS despatched one emergency crew to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or captured dash-cam footage that could assist with enquiries is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 918 17/09/26.

The road has since re-opened.
