Cairde Teo will be hosting a unique and innovative business marketing workshop in Armagh City Hotel between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday 4th October.
The workshop is free of charge and will be of interest to policy makers, public representatives, community groups, social enterprises, cultural organisations, schools, trade unions and businesses that are keen to learn about how the Irish language can be used as a marketing tool and a unique selling point to promote their events, products and services.
The Marketing in a Multi-lingual World suite of courses – which includes a workshop – has been commissioned and designed by CeangalG, the EUINTEREG IVA funded project that is working to develop links between enterprises in the north of Ireland and those in the Scottish Gaeltacht. The area covered by the CeangalG project encompasses the Donegal Gaeltacht and the rest of Ulster, to the Gaelic speaking Highlands and Islands of western Scotland.
The marketing course is aimed at business owners or entrepreneurs who want to break into the expanding spheres of Irish language or cultural tourism and business. Local cultural enterprise CAIRDE Teo initially invited CeangalG to deliver the half day of training workshops as part of their ‘Stuaim’ project for budding young cultural entrepreneurs. However, the training has now been expanded to meet the needs of a range of different stakeholders.
Course designer and tutor Fionbar Ó Baoill, CeangalG’s training manager, said the courses will help participants develop robust plans to market more effectively their products and services in a world where knowledge of a language such as Irish or Scots Gaelic could give a provider the edge over a competitor.
“In today’s world, people are less concerned with acquiring stuff and more with finding meaning – so those in the Irish and Scots Gaelic medium sector have an inbuilt advantage which we intend they will be better able to exploit through active participation in this course. Participants will learn the tools and techniques to design and upgrade their own strategy as it is rolled out. Most importantly, attendees will be able to design a comprehensive marketing strategy specific to their individual business together with a set of goals to get them there” he said.
Places are limited and immediate booking is advised. A complimentary lunch will be served. If you are interested in registering for the CeangalG ‘Marketing in a Multilingual World’ course, you can contact either Fionbar Ó Baoill at fionbar@ceangalg.net or Seán Ó Maoilsté at sean@cairdeteo.com. Alternatively, contact the CAIRDE Teo offices on 028 37515229.
CAIRDE Teo’s ‘Stuaim’ project will be delivered with funding assistance from Santander’s Enterprise Development Awards and Lloyds Bank Foundation NI. CeangalG is an EU funded project headed by Gaelic university, Sabhal Mór Ostaig. Its main partners are Údarás na Gaeltachta and Belfast’s Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich. Last year it secured funding totalling almost €1m from Interreg under the auspices of the Special European Programmes Body (SEUPB).
