A Newry and Armagh Assemblyman has described as “appalling” two burglaries at the homes of elderly residents in Newry this week.
The incidents happened in the John Martin Gardens and Ardgreen Drive areas, one last night and the other two nights previous.
It follows on too from a distraction burglary at the home of an elderly resident in the Corcreevy Drive area of Richhill last Wednesday.
“Like everyone in our community I am appalled to learn of these disgraceful attacks.
“It is important that we as a community and neighbours watch out for each other and in particular for the elderly and most vulnerable.
“Attacks like these increase anxiety and fear amongst the elderly population and I would urge anyone with the smallest piece of information to speak to police.”
