Police in E District, encompassing Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon and Newry and Mourne, have seized more than £330,000 of drugs over three weeks as part of Operation Torus, a street level drug dealing initiative.
During the operation, which ran from Tuesday, February 25 Sunday, March 16, 108 house searches and 95 arrests were made within the district.
Officers also recovered more than £33,000 and 40,000 Euro in cash. The seizures and searches involved officers from Neighbourhood, Response and Crime.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Wright, E District Crime Manager, said: “Operation Torus has allowed us to remove a substantial quantity of drugs from circulation and we will continue to target those who are involved in the sale and supply of illegal drugs.
“We conducted more than 90 searches during the three week operation which demonstrates how insidious the problem of drugs is. We will continue to work with communities and partner agencies to educate our young people about the dangers of drugs and address the underlying problems as well as tackle the crime.
“We would again ask for the support of the public and encourage anyone with concerns or information to contact us.”
The suspected drugs found during the searches have included cannabis, herbal cannabis, cocaine, mephedrone and prescription drugs.
