A sum of money was taken from a Newry home targeted in broad daylight on Tuesday evening.
The homeowner in Flagstaff Court area of the city was out of the house between 5.45pm and 8.20pm when it was targeted.
Newry City Sinn Féin Councillor Valerie Harte has said that those who ransacked and robbed the home cared nothing about the trauma and hurt they were causing to their victims.
Said Councillor Harte: “I have been contacted by a resident of Flagstaff Court in Newry, who came home this evening to find her home ransacked.
“The burglary happened between 5.45pm and 8.20pm and a sum of money was taken.
“Again we see an attack on our community and have a young family traumatised by this unscrupulous act.
“Those involved in these criminal acts care nothing about the trauma and hurt they were causing to their victims. They must be apprehended and face the full rigours of the law.
Councillor Harte concluded: “Please make sure your properties are secured and stay vigilant. if anyone has any information regarding this most recent please contact the police.”
