NHS staff could be given at least half price entry to recreation facilities across Newry, Mourne and Down District.
They will, that is, if a notice of motion to go before NMD Council wins cross-party support.
The motion is being brought by DUP Councillor Glyn Hanna.
He believes that, as a thank-you for their working during the Covid-19 crisis, NHS staff should be given this gesture.
It would apply to various facilities across Newry, Mourne and Down.
The motion ask thats “this council should recognise NHS staff for their service during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a gesture of discounted use of council facilities such as gyms, swimming pools, tennis courts and leisure centres for a period of one year”.
Indeed, Councillor Hanna believes, at the very least, half price admissions should be approved.
His motion adds: “I would suggest a minimum of at least a 50% discount on charges, possibly free of charge completely.”
The notice of motion will be debated at the monthly meeting, which is due to take place on Monday.
