Over £8,700 has been raised for the Southern Area Hospice following the 32nd annual Newry Towpath Walk.

Deborah Kennedy organised the walk, which took place on Sunday, April 23.

This year’s walk saw new and familiar faces take to the Newry Towpath and walk six miles. As a result of a great turnout on the day and everyone’s fundraising efforts, Deborah and friends were able to present a cheque for £8,752.33 to the Hospice.

Deborah commented:  “I was thrilled to be back organising the Hospice Towpath Walk for its 32nd year. This event has raised approximately £343,500 to date for our local Hospice and I am very thankful to everyone that came to support my walk this year and for those that return year after year.”

A Hospice spokesperson said: “The Southern Area Hospice Services are extremely thankful to everyone that fundraised for this year’s Towpath Walk and to Deborah for her continuous commitment to fundraising for her local Hospice over the past 32 years. Thank you!”
