Detectives appeal for information following theft of cash from house in Newry

'It’s understood wardrobes in a bedroom had been opened and rummaged through – a sum of cash was taken'

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a recent burglary at a house in Newry.

Detective Sergeant Dougherty said: “Officers received a report on Saturday, 22nd February at approximately 7.30pm that a house in the Elmwood Park area had been broken into.

“Entry was gained via a back door that had been forced open. It’s understood wardrobes in a bedroom had been opened and rummaged through – a sum of cash was taken.

“At this time we believe nothing else was stolen from the property and enquiries are ongoing.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have noticed two men in the area who were wearing dark clothing around the time of the report to call us on 101, quoting reference number 1486 22/02/25.

“We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam, CCTV or mobile footage of area that we could review.”
