‘Devastated beyond belief’: Newry home interiors business ‘destroyed’ in overnight fire

A Newry-based home interiors business have expressed their devastation after an overnight fire gutted their premises.

The fire which broke out the Newry North Business Park on the Cloughanramer Road last night (April 10) has effected a number of businesses.

A spokesperson for Sheepbridge Interiors – based at Unit F within the park – shared their heartbreak this morning, saying they were “devastated beyond belief”.

The added: “Our family and friends all in this business together, destroyed by fire.

“Thoughts go out to my staff, my landlord, my business neighbours and our fantastic customers.

“Massive thanks to the Fire Brigade, the pride of our country.

“Early days for thoughts on the future. But all existing orders will be fulfilled. Just bear with us as we go through the next few days.”

Another business in the centre, Tiddly Town posted a short video of the fire on social media on Friday morning.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said: “NIFRS operations have been scaled back and two fire appliances, supported by a high volume pump, will remain at the scene.

“Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.”

Police say the Cloghanramer Road is currently closed to traffic. Diversions are in place.
