Two people arrested after the discovery of £11,000 worth of cannabis in a property in Newry last year are to face the Crown Court.
The defendants were detained after 32 cannabis plants were found at an address on Priory Crescent on February 16.
Patrycja Szajnoga, 29, of High Street, Newry, and Adrian Kurakowski, 37, whose address is given as Maghaberry, both appeared charged with possession of Class B and cultivating cannabis at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Kurakowski faces two further charges of possession of Class B along with possession of Class A and possession of Class B with intent to supply.
It was previously outlined that the defendants were arrested following a planned search of an address on Priory Crescent in Newry on February 16, last year.
During this 32 cannabis plants, with a street value of around £11,000, were found in an upstairs bedroom.
On Wednesday, both defendants stood in the dock and made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.
Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.
Defence counsel for both parties made no contrary submissions.
District Judge Eamonn King stated that he was satisfied this was the case.
Both defendants were released on their own bail of £750 to appear at Newry Crown Court on February 20 for arraignment.
