Firefighters tackle blaze at house in Newry

Firefighters dealt with an incident at a house in Newry this afternoon (Wednesday).

The fire broke out at a property in the Killeavy Road area – close to the Whitegates Centre – shortly before 12pm.

Two fire appliances from Newry one from Warrenpoint Fire Station attended the incident at 11.50am.

A NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a shed on fire on Killeavy Road, Newry.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental ignition and incident was dealt with by 1.04pm.”

There were no reports of any casualties.
