A man with an address listed as in Loughinisland, near Downpatrick, faces five charges of fraud by false representation and one charge of obtaining services dishonestly.
Kieran Nigel Gordon (36), of Loughinisland Road, had his case mentioned at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The defendant was once was a goalkeeper for Newry City.
The charges relate to the August to November period in 2023.
In one of of the false representation charges it is alleged the defendant pretended to be somebody else.
In another charge he allegedly said a third party would pay for rental accommodation on his behalf.
The defendant also allegedly claimed he had ‘repaid monies owed by way of bank transfer’; and he also allegedly said he would make a bank transfer and also pay cash for rental accommodation.
The case has been adjourned to November 28.
