A former Newry primary school headmaster has appeared in court charged with a litany of historical sexual offences against children.
Paul Dunleavy, 82, who faces a total of 41 charges, appeared in Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.
Dunleavy was formerly the headmaster at St Colman’s Abbey Primary School in Newry and worked at Christian Brothers Primary School and St Aidan’s Primary School in Belfast.
The charges relate to the 1960s and 70s when Dunleavy was a teacher at St Colman’s Abbey Primary School in Newry.
The 41 charges relate to accusations from nine separate boys.
Dunleavy is set to return for Crown Court trial at a date yet unknown. He was released on £500 bail.
