Funeral details announced for man murdered in Mountnorris

Funeral details have been announced for the Warrenpoint native murdered in his County Armagh home last week.

Chrissy Burns – who was 40 – was found dead in a bungalow in the Cusher Green area of Mountnorris September 4, 2025.

Mr Burns’ death marks the 10th murder in Northern Ireland in 10 weeks.

According to recently released funeral arrangement, Mr Burns will be reposing at his father’s home – 31 Mourne Drive, Warrenpoint, BT34 3JL – from 11am until 9pm today (Tuesday).

The funeral will leave the home on Wednesday September 10, at 9.45am for 10.30am Requiem Mass in St Peter’s Church, Warrenpoint.

Interment will take place afterwards in St Malachy’s Cemetery, Carrickcruppen, Camlough.

A death notice described Mr Burns as the beloved son of the late Margaret and Francie Burns and much-loved brother of Shane, Martin, Stephen, Brian, Damian (RIP) and Grainne.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his brothers, sister, son, sisters-in-law, the entire family circle and friends.

Aaron McAnulty (39), of Cusher Green, Mountnorris, appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning charged with his murder.

McAnulty spoke only to confirm his name and age, and to say he understood the charge against him.

There was no bail application and McAnulty was remanded in custody to appear again before Armagh Magistrates’ Court on September 30.
