Police have appealed for information following a burglary in Newry last night.
The burglary took place in the Derrybeg area of the city in the evening of Thursday October 19.
A man, aged in his sixties, was in the property in the Fifth Avenue area at around 8pm when he heard a noise from outside and the sound of glass breaking.
The man went downstairs and a pane of glass had been smashed on the slightly open kitchen door.
He then went outside and discovered that the garden shed door and been forced open and a spade had been taken. No one was outside at the time.
Detective Sergeant Dougherty said: “Our investigation is ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area between 8pm and 9pm on Thursday, October 19 to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1855 19/10/23.
