The sister of a five-year-old schoolgirl who died as a result of a road collision in Newry on Sunday night has described her as the “happiest, loving wee girl this world has ever seen”.
Kourtney Khloe McCormick, who had just turned six years old, died following a collision involving a black Ford Tourneo van in the Springfarm Heights area on Sunday evening, June 21.
She was taken to hospital where she tragically later died from her injuries.
A 40-year-old woman, who was arrested, has been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
Kourtney’s older sister Jasmine paid a heartbreaking tribute to “the baby of the house”.
“I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words for this,” she wrote.
“My wee sister, the baby of the house, my baby, you changed everyones lives that you met, and anyone who knows me knows how much I love you, you were the most happiest, loving wee girl this world has ever seen and most important of all you were our happy girl.
“Life is so unfair, you most definitely never deserved this and I’ll never be able to understand why it had to happen to you. To quote your favourite movie, Moana, ‘there is nowhere you could go that I won’t be with you,’ and I know that you’ll always be by my side and everyone else’s side until we get to see you again, and for now you’re reunited with our brother and all our other angels we have.
“My sweetheart, I love you more than you could have ever understood, and I’ll make sure everyone knows your story. We will meet again and i’ll get to see that cheeky little smile again, and your eyes that were always filled with joy. Squeezy hugs forever my girl, until I see you again. Forever 6 my baby🪽❤️ Sacred heart of Jesus protect her soul.
