A kitten was thrown from a moving car in what is being described as a “very distressing” incident.
The young feline was flung from a car at high speed and into oncoming traffic on the A28 bypass in Newry during rush hour on Monday.
The Newry Reporter said it was the second incident of its nature in the space of a month.
A number of motorists stopped to help the animal but it their efforts were in vain as the kitten was killed after being struck by a 4×4 vehicle.
Emma O’Hare of Pet Connection Newry said there had been a number of similar incidents in the area over the last few years.
“A number have been found on the road outside my house,” she told U105’s Frank Mitchell show.
“It just seems to be an easy way to get rid of kittens if you’re not responsible enough to have your cat neutered.
“It’s very distressing.”
