‘Long overdue’ resurfacing works promised to improve ‘dire state’ of Damolly road

'It is my understanding they hope to be on site over the summer months'

Ardmore Road in Damolly Newry

Resurfacing of the Ardmore Road in Damolly, Newry is due to start in the coming weeks.

And confirmation of the improvement scheme – which has been welcomed by Councillor Geraldine Kearns – has been described as “long overdue”.

“My Sinn Féin colleagues and I have been lobbying for resurfacing of Ardmore Road for some time,” she said. “This road has been in a dire state for a number of years.

“DfI officials have confirmed this scheme will be completed in this financial year, and it is my understanding they hope to be on site over the summer months.

“This is very welcome news and I will keep the local community updated once exact dates are finalised and the full details of the scheme made available.

“Sinn Féin will continue to prioritise the issues that matter the most to our constituents, and work with our colleague, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, to fix our roads and improve the transport network across Newry.”
