A 29-year-old man is to appear at a special court sitting on Saturday following an aggravated burglary in Newry.
The suspect, who was arrested earlier today (Friday), has been charged with a number of offences including aggravated burglary, criminal damage and resisting police.
At approximately 12.20am police received a report that three men had entered the property in the Toragh Park area of the city armed with a knife, a metal pole and hedge cutters.
They allegedly assaulted the occupants before ransacking the house.
The accused is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
