A man and woman are due to appear in court in Armagh this morning (Tuesday) following the seizure of suspected heroin on Monday.
The 39-year-old man and 26-year-old woman have been charged in relation to a number of offences including importing a controlled drug and possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.
Both are due to appear before Armagh Magistrates.
The charges come after an Audi car was stopped as it was driving northbound on the A1 carriageway near Newry on Sunday evening. With the assistance of a police drugs dog, a search of the vehicle was conducted.
A follow up search was then carried out at a flat in the west Belfast area where a quantity of herbal cannabis and other drug related paraphernalia was recovered.
As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
