A man was beaten with a wheel brace and wrench in a daylight street attack before being knocked down and run over by a vehicle in Newry on Wednesday afternoon, police have said.
The assault happened in the Craigmore View area sometime between 12pm and 12.30pm on April 15.
Detectives say a man in his 30s was walking in the street when a silver-coloured SUV-type vehicle pulled up and two men and a woman got out.
The victim was then struck a number of times with a wheel brace and a wrench. When he tried to escape, he was knocked down by the same vehicle, which then drove off from the scene.
He was taken to hospital and treated for a serious cut to his head, concussion and other cuts and bruising.
Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses and footage.
A PSNI spokesperson said detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Craigmore View area around the time of the incident, or who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage.
