A man is to appear at a special court sitting on Friday following a serious assault in a Newry shopping centre on Tuesday.
The man, who is aged 38, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following a report of an assault, which occurred in the Buttercrane Quay area of Newry on Tuesday, July 9.
He is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Friday, July 12.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
It was reported that a man in his 40s was headbutted and sustained a serious injury to his eye during an altercation on Tuesday afternoon at around 12.15pm.
The injured man, who was taken to hospital following the assault, was accompanied by his mother and young child at the time of the attack, they were not injured.
