Police in Newry have arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of burglary, theft and a number of related offences following an incident in the city centre on Friday, April 3.
Chief Inspector Ruston said: “At approximately 11.30am, officers received a report that a male had been acting suspiciously in the Corn Market area of the city.
“Officers attended and a subsequent search located a number of Stanley knives, an electronic tablet device, and a quantity of prescription medication.
“The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possession of a Class C drug. He remains in custody at this time, assisting with police enquiries.
“Anyone who might have any information which assist is asked to contact police via 101, and quote reference number 416 of 03/04/26.”
