A Co Down man who is alleged to have breached a sexual offences order by contacting children under 16 will go on trial in the New Year.
Richard Montgomery, 34, of Kilkeel, appeared charged with nine counts of breaching a sexual offences order, four counts of sexual communication with a child and meeting a child following sexual grooming at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Court heard the defendant was alleged to have made contact with two males under 16 between February 1, 2017 and May 21, 2017, while he was subject to a sexual offences order.
There were a further four alleged offences of communication for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification intentionally with a person under 16 which dated from between December 2016 and May 2017.
Montgomery also faced an allegation of meeting a person he knew to be under 16 after prior communication which is alleged to have occurred on May 6, 2017.
Prosecution said there was a prima facie case to be answered.
The case will return to Newry Crown Court on January 10 next.
