A Banbridge man who has admitted to burgling a business premises in Newry will have to wait until the New Year to learn his fate.
The 25-year-old’s solicitor told court that his client also awaited sentencing for assaulting a doctor at the Bluestone Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.
Patrick Braniff, of Iveagh Drive, pleaded guilty to a single charge of burglary at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, via videolink from his solicitor’s office.
As the charge was read, it was heard the offence took place between July 10 and July 13, of this year, with the defendant entering as a trespasser a business on the Forkhill Road, Cloghoge, Newry.
Defence solicitor Gabriel Ingram stated: “He has a very lengthy criminal record and this is an offence of some degree of seriousness.
“He was before Craigavon Magistrates’ earlier this morning. There he pleaded guilty to a common assault of a doctor at the Bluestone Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.”
He added that the judge before that court had ordered a presentence report and asked for a similar action to taken in this case.
District Judge Eamon King agreed and adjourned sentencing until January 13.
