A man found unconscious in Newry is being treated in hospital for serious facial and head injuries.
Police have launched an investigation following the report of an assault during the early hours of Sunday morning, December 15.
Sergeant Nesbitt said: “A report was received at approximately 2.30am of an unconscious man in the Monaghan Street area of the city.
“The man, aged in his 20s, was transported to hospital where he is being treated for serious head and facial injuries.
“Enquiries are continuing today, and we want to hear from anyone who was in the area and noticed three men.
“One of whom is described as wearing dark trousers, a dark t-shirt and a dark zip-up hoody which is light-coloured inside.
“The men are understood to have made off on foot in the direction of the bus depot.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault and witnessed what happened is asked to make contact with police on 101, quoting reference number 208 15/12/24.
“We are especially keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area during this time.”
