A Newry filling station could soon be upgraded to include a retail store with new café/bistro and washing facilities, if proposals are approved.
The plans were lodged with Newry, Mourne and Down District in the name of Patrick Hollywood and relate to the Go Filling Station on the Forkill Road.
If approved, the fresh proposals would see the space developed to include a retail/services building with washing and refreshment facilities, store areas, office, café/bistro and ATM facilities.
According to a design & access statement accompanying the plans, the building would be split-level to fit the site’s topography.
It also provides for the upgrading of an existing access road up to the higher level to the south east of the site, where additional parking will be provided and level access to the second floor of the proposed building.
The site layout proposes a continuation of the one-way traffic system to the upper level to create safe means of access and turning within the site.
There are currently six parking spaces on site which would be upgraded to 43 across two main parking areas. Disabled parking will be positioned as close to the door as possible.
The application will be advertised shortly.
