The funeral of a mother and daughter murdered in Newry earlier this month will take place in Belfast this afternoon (Friday).
The bodies of Giselle Marimon-Herrera (37) and her 15-year-old daughter, Allison, were discovered on March 7, at a flat in Glin Ree Court.
Police said that Allison, who was a pupil at Newry High School, had been strangled and there was a “strong possibility” her mother had died in the same way.
The body of a 38-year-old man, Russell Steele, was also found at the scene. He died from hanging.
Detectives investigating the incident are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
Relatives of the deceased have travelled from Columbia for the service, which will take place at Roselawn Crematorium in Belfast at 3pm today.
SDLP councillor Michael Savage said that he believed that members of the family arrived at the weekend.
He said that the funeral service would represent “a very sad end to a very sad episode in Newry”.
