More than £26,000 has been raised for a Newry mum-of-two left with a “severe brain injury” following a road traffic collision in Dublin on Saturday night (September 26).
Danielle O’Keane was involved in a horrific crash involving two vehicles at North Wall Quay, Dublin 1 at around 11pm that evening.
Aged in her 30s, Daneille is wife and young mum of two boys, aged five and two.
She was immediately rushed by ambulance to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Sharing a GoFundMe appeal to support her family while Danielle is recovering in hospital, her aunt Jackie Mullan said her niece is currently in the intensive care unit at hospital “on a ventilator” and that she has regrettably suffered “a severe brain injury”.
Jackie adds: “Her husband was to start a new job on Monday and is now unable to start as he is with his seriously injured wife.
“We want to help in any way we can with bills as they continue to come in. Any donation is greatly appreciated along with prayers and thank you an advance for any donations.”
In less than three days, the effort has brought in just over £26,000 and donations are continuing to pour in.
Rosary Prayers were also held in St Joseph’s Church, Sheeptown for Danielle and her family yesterday evening.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
A garda spokesperson said: “Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the vicinity of North Wall Quay on Saturday, 26th September 2026 between 10:30pm and 11:15pm, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
