
An investigation has been launched following reports of a serious sexual assault in Newry.
The incident is alleged to have occurred in the Albert Basin area of the city during the early hours of Thursday, August 21.
According to Newry.ie, police had cordoned off a stationary boat in the quay on Friday as forensics examined the potential crime scene.
A drone was also deployed to help with the investigation.
A PSNI spokesperson said “Enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal for anyone with information to contact the PSNI on 101, quoting reference number 170 of 22/08/25.”
A drone was put in service and a boat the ‘China Blue’ was sealed off.
