
Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary in the city yesterday (Thursday).
It happened in the Cecil Street area sometime after 12pm, with police receiving a report shortly before 6:30pm.
The front door to the property was forced open, a number of rooms were ransacked and a pair of trainers were stolen.
No one was in the house at the time.
Police have requested members of the public to come forward who may have seen a man in the area around 5:40pm. He was wearing tracksuit bottoms, a dark coat and a baseball cap.
Police Detective Sergeant Dougherty said: “Our investigation is now underway and we’re appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious to make contact with police.”
He added: “Anyone with information, including mobile, dash-cam or CCTV footage, can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1450 16/11/23.
“A report can be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form.“
