A man was reportedly assaulted by a taxi driver in Newry on Thursday evening, January 9.
It was reported that at approximately 5.40pm, the victim was assaulted outside retail premises in The Quays area of the city.
At this time his injuries aren’t thought to be serious, however it was further reported that the suspect, a man aged in his 50s, also used racially discriminatory language and as such this matter is being investigated as a hate crime.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious that could assist with enquiries to get in touch on 101 quoting reference 1392 09/01/25.
