Resident thwarts would-be thief in Newry

A home owner in Newry city disturbed a suspected burglar as he tried to enter their home on Wednesday.

The would-be thief was frightened off by the presence of someone in the house in the Dora Avenue area of the city yesterday afternoon.

Sinn Fein councillor Charlie Casey has urged homeowners to be vigilant following the report of the disturbing incident.

“Apparently in the early afternoon a male attempted to enter a property but was disturbed by the home owner.

“I would urge all to be vigilant and would appeal to anyone who may have noticed suspicions Activities in the locality around that time, to contact the PSNI on 101 or through crime stoppers and quote ref 733 of 6/2/19.”
