A suspected stolen car crashed into a taxi before and rolled over in a dramatic road collision in Newry in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
It is understood the incident happened around midnight on the Armagh Road in Newry.
Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady said that it is a miracle that no one had been killed.
The MP, who lives close to where the incident happened, said: “I understand that a stolen car speeding along this road lost control and crashed into a taxi.
“The car ploughed into walls and fences before it came to a stop, resulting damage has left a scene of destruction.
“How no one has been killed is a miracle. The driver of the taxi in particular can count himself extremely fortunate.”
His colleague councillor Charlie Casey who also lives close by also visited the scene this morning.
He said: “Residents are in complete shock. There is a trail of debris. Whilst I understand the police are investigating the incident at present, I share the hope of all the community that those who have caused this will be apprehended and face the full rigours of the law.”
