Across the Southern Trust area, while many people will be celebrating Christmas Day at home, there will be many staff hard at work supporting with the vital care needed to keep our services running smoothly.
One of those hardworking staff members is Patricia Morgan, Senior Residential Worker at Cloughreagh House who has shared her thoughts on working Christmas Day with Armagh I:
Said Patricia: “I am a Band 5 Senior Residential Worker in Cloughreagh House. Cloughreagh House is a Rehabilitation Intermediate Care Service, we have one permanent Resident.
“I started my Cloughreagh career as a Band 3 Care Assistant in May 1998. I had worked on and off as an acting Band 5 before I got a permanent post.
“My role can be challenging at times but the rewards and job satisfaction make it all worthwhile.
“Every day I learn something new and I have the privilege of providing care to so many people.
“I feel the team is totally committed to providing person centred care, this can be evidenced by Service User feedback shared on Care Opinion and I hope my contribution has had a positive impact too.
“I really enjoy working Christmas morning, the atmosphere is incredible and staff work really hard to ensure all the residents have a good day.
“We as a team understand that we need to be aware that Christmas can be a sad time for some of our residents, particularly the loss of loved ones and maybe the loss of their independence.
“We have a Santa to give out gifts to the residents, we have Christmas music throughout the home and the food is amazing.
“Residents are enabled to watch or listen to Christmas services, this can be in their bedroom or as a group in the lounges.
“Christmas day can be busy, particularly if residents go out over the festive season, as this involves medication preparation which a timely task on top of our
normal daily work.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Service Users and work colleagues a very happy and peaceful Christmas from the Cloughreagh Team.”
